Facing Unexpected Fees for Relieving Letter: How Can I Resolve This with My Company?

Sandeshap
I worked for a company. Due to a lack of opportunities, I submitted my resignation and received acceptance. However, to obtain the No Objection Certificate (NOC) and the relieving letter, the company is demanding a significant amount in lakhs as training costs, which they claim should be repaid. This information was not provided through email, nor have I signed any bond or document that mentions these terms and conditions. Despite this, the company insists on this substantial payment to issue the relieving letter, which is not feasible for me to afford. Please assist me in obtaining my relieving letter from the company.

Thank you.

Have you signed any bond for the training provided to you? What does the appointment letter say about the exit clause? Has the company informed you in an email or letter about the training cost? Have you signed any employee handbook where the same has been mentioned? Kindly answer these first so that the query can be answered properly.

Hi Ashutosh,

I have not signed any bond. An appointment letter was not issued at all, just a mail communication to join the company. Even in that, nothing was mentioned. Nothing has been signed. Thank you very much for the response.

Thanks,
Sandesh
