Navigating Professional Tax Registration: Do We Need Separate Registrations for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh?

Our company has obtained Professional Tax registration and has been remitting P.T in various locations in Andhra Pradesh. Lately, as you are all aware, Telangana state has been formed. At this juncture, do we need to obtain Professional Tax registration in Telangana as well? Our offices are situated in Hyderabad. Kindly advise me on the procedure for obtaining professional tax registration in Telangana state. I also have a doubt regarding whether we need to continue remitting employer and employee P.T in Andhra Pradesh after obtaining registration in Telangana.

Understanding Professional Tax Obligations

Professional Tax is revenue for the local administration. It is payable to the Corporation, Municipality, or Gram Panchayat where the employee is working. If you have offices only in Hyderabad, why should you pay profession tax all over the state? It is okay if you have one employee stationed in each municipal or panchayat area across the state. In the case of Telangana territory, you can pay tax concerning employees working in Telangana state jurisdiction at the respective places they are working.
