Maternity Leave and Resignation: How to Determine the Last Working Day for Records?

seema.valia
Hi members,

If an employee goes on maternity leave in March, also extends her leave and adjusts it against PLs, and later resigns, what would be her last day with us for our records as well as the experience letter we will issue to her? Will it be March or July?

Hi Seema,

I think her last working date will be in March only. You can add the comment in the experience letter that she was on maternity leave from March to July.

Dear Seema,

Greetings!

If she resigned before maternity leave, then you can refer to Ms. Suma's views. Otherwise, you have to mention the last day of the maternity period.

If she goes for maternity leave and doesn't come back or resigns, is it compulsory that we have to pay maternity benefits. How can we pay the maternity salary? Can we pay monthly after her return from her maternity leave, or do we have to pay in the same period when she applied for maternity leave?

Also, tell me if it is compulsory to pay maternity benefits if she resigns after completing maternity leave.

I wanted to know if a female staff is given a termination notice of one month, can she take maternity leave during that month? The due date is in June.
