Feeling Anxious About Salary Negotiation Mistake – Should I Reach Out to Accept Their Offer?

During the interview, the employer suggested a salary scale that is much lower than my suggestion, and I refused. After the interview, I don't understand why I answered that I am anxious about the salary scale I suggested. This company is a new company, so there is much work to do for an HR & Admin manager, but I hope to be able to work in the morning and go home in the evening (this is my hope because I have two small sons) and have the chance to work for a technology company. I considered carefully, and I am eager to work for this company, but I made a mistake in the interview.

Now I would like to share with you and please give me your advice: should I contact the recruitment staff of this company and say that I accept the salary scale of their company's suggestion and hope to have a chance to work? And how should I proceed now?

Ultimately, you are the decision-maker. You have to assess yourself and determine what you want to do. If everything else is positive in the new place, give it a second thought. Study the company's growth plans, etc., so even if not now, consider the chances of receiving a raise or expected salary in the future. If the offered salary by the company is affecting your budget and you have more opportunities in the pipeline, you can always look for better options.

Thank you very much for your advice. This is a new company established in January 2014. There is no guarantee that it will become a famous company in a short time. I like it because it is a new company in the technology business, and I can stay at home with my sons in the morning. I live outside of Hanoi, Vietnam, where there are very few garment factories, while I have worked in a garment factory for a long time. This is my limitation. I usually work in other provinces and stay in accommodations from Monday to Saturday. Now, I really want to work near my home so that I can go home in the morning.

What a pity! I made a mistake in the interview. I will consider more and gain experience for the next interview.

If you are really serious, why don't you give it a try? Approach the concerned HR and request them politely, apologizing and justifying your thinking, seeking their pardon and an opportunity to work with them. It costs nothing – if it clicks, you have it. All the best.
