Dear all,

I have had these questions bothering me for a long time. Has the introduction of CITEMAN, the cartoon character, made any difference to CiteHr? Do you think all the effort, money, and time pumped into the concept was worth it? Please share your views to shed light on these burning questions.

Not much, as far as I am concerned. But I think that it is because of less exposure. Maybe the character should be visible on the main page along with the CiteHR logo. Maybe that would attract more people towards the cartoon strip.

I don't know what prompted CHR to introduce the concept. I felt that it was too early to do all that. I have the same views for Citesales, Cite Finance & Cite Operations. Let's see what other members have to say on this.

Well, I think Ajmal is right, and strangely, just today, I was working on the new header, which would have a new structure and is based on CiteMan. I will probably get it done in a couple of days.

I guess our older members will take a bit more time to adjust to the new character as the mascot of the website network, but I think it was definitely worth the money and effort as it will help bring all the network websites under one header domain.

By the way, if you haven't checked out the redesigned CiteMan website, which also features a management articles section - now is a good time to check it out. :icon1:

Well, it's never really early to introduce any concept. Since we do not have a big budget to plan a massive launch and neither a large workforce to work on the website development, this was probably the only way to do it. I have always rolled out new features one at a time, and I can understand that a concept like this will take more time for acceptance. One of the reasons why I wanted to create a network was that I felt a lot of subject areas could not be included under the HR head. I really appreciate that at last someone is willing to talk about these things. It really helps when things are discussed well, and we know exactly what the members want.

The idea is to link up the concept of the character to CiteHR. CiteMan is not a part of CiteHR - it's actually the other way around. CiteMan is the primary domain, and CiteHR, CiteSales, CiteFin, and CiteOps are the branches that form specialized communities.

Every company employs tools and concepts to establish brand awareness - such as a logo, a tagline, sound, or even a unique service. The concept behind CiteMan is to provide this network with a brand identity.

I am thankful that Ajmal brought up this point. I didn't read The CiteMan Manifesto until a few weeks ago since it failed to capture my attention. There were very interesting forums and discussions to read. And finally, when I did read it, I could not grasp the purpose of it. And till now, I have been waiting for another one of the manifestos!

Somewhere, the whole concept of creating a CiteMan as a brand identity to the network seems to have gotten lost. This post really helped in clarifying the whole idea. Though, I am not very fascinated by the whole "super-things" that the mascot can do, but I think it's a great effort.

Thanks for your comment. I know that the character still hasn't caught the attention of many users. Even Rajat didn't see the link to the story before I showed it to him. I will be merging the entire network - it'll probably take a few days more.

The idea that you “thought” or “wondered” about "when" the next CiteMan story will be published is the sole purpose of the character. There are many visitors who come - read - and go away. A mascot or a central character and a story behind the network helps user connect to the website. All the interesting discussions you speak of are there because more and more people have stuck to the website and it's an effect of those small measures which are taken as a part of the development strategy.

It's pretty difficult to retain visitors cause usually they will only spend a few seconds on a website - unless they see something that they want to explore. So a corporate super hero is something which I thought would be intriguing to most users - even if they are looking for a "relieving letter format"

Rajnish: The branding is yet to take it's effect - once I get the network sites integrated it'll become more visible. But as said earlier it'll take time. As for the profitability - well you'll have to wait for the IPO to get those details. :icon1:

Just a suggestion, for HR why don't you position CITEMAN as the Indian Dilbert, and use humor to present HR issues.

Just went through the proposed new header... looks quite odd... but maybe because we are not accustomed to it...

I was thinking it to be something of this type.. which gives a full look of how Citeman looks... Attaching the picture of a mascot... have a look... it looks much more lively...

Yeah, I had forgotten about this post, but I did change the header to make it slightly shorter and with a different kind of image.
You need to press SHIFT+F5 to refresh the header menu on your computer.

Citemen is smart.

Well, I agree with Sunayna... Citeman is cool, but it's been a long time since the first episode has been posted on the site. The updating, if possible, should be more frequent.
