Operation theatre - Manpower planning - need your guidelines for a 500 bedded hospital?

Hi, I am doing Manpower planning for a 500-bed hospital, and my Chief wants me to start with the Operation theatre. I need your guidelines before starting this assignment. Is there anyone to help me?

You may conduct a ratio analysis survey of other hospitals that are your competitors, e.g., you may calculate nurse-to-bed ratio for the OT, number of technicians per patient, etc. You may find such indices in any good book on hospital management. Accordingly, prepare a questionnaire and approach other hospitals. You may seek the assistance of trainees for this project.

Take your budget into consideration and simultaneously conduct a salary survey. For this, you will have to do a lot of probing on your own.

Finally, after compiling all this data in an Excel sheet, you may create a prospective organizational chart illustrating reporting relationships specifically for the OT.

I really liked these ideas. Salary survey. Can you discuss more? I am thinking of an independent person who can do this or if any consultancy is already gathering such data. Any inputs. Also, can you suggest good books on Hospital Management.
