Stuck on PF Transfer: Is a Covering Letter Really Necessary for Form 13?

jyj9ja
I left my previous organization that has a PF trust. I have filled out Form 13 and had it signed by the authorized signatory of my current organization before forwarding it to my previous organization. However, they are currently not processing my PF transfer form, stating that I have not attached a covering letter from my present employer along with Form 13.

PF Transfer Without a Covering Letter

How can I transfer my PF from the PF trust to EPFO without a covering letter? Is it mandatory to attach a covering letter along with Form 13 as part of the standard procedure?

May I suggest that you apply for PF transfer in online mode? The procedure is simple, and your previous employer (Trust) will be prompted to effect the transfer. I suggest checking the eligibility for "online transfer." If you are eligible, you will need to mention your Pension A/c No. with the previous employer, as Exempted Establishments (i.e., companies with private PF Trust) only maintain the Pension number with RPFC.

Alternatively, a covering letter is not part of the standard procedure but is certainly a most acceptable method. You may send the transfer request with a suitable covering letter from your present employer to the Previous Employer or RPFC of the Previous employer.
