Seeking Fun Saturday Ideas: How Can We Help Our Team Unwind and Connect?

hrtwcs
Hello everybody out there,

We are a consultancy firm with an employee strength of 20. I am looking for an interactive session for our employees to be conducted every Saturday to help them relax and enjoy the moment. Does anybody have any innovative ideas that can be implemented?

Hi Deepa,

Every week, you can ask one of them to prepare topics in HR. Anything related to HR could be recruitment, PA, or other new changes happening in the HR industry. There are many topics they can choose from. They can create a PowerPoint presentation, share management stories, and organize team games, etc.

This initiative will help your team take a break from what they are doing. They will come across various aspects of HR besides recruitment, which will make them aware of what is happening in the industry. Moreover, their confidence will grow, and they will feel more comfortable talking to a crowd.

I hope this suggestion will be helpful.

Deepa

Well, Deepa, thanks for the suggestion. As we are software consultants, do you think it's possible for the employees to execute such tasks? Most of them are developers, so you can imagine the work pressure. It would be kind if you could suggest something feasible that can be done from our side rather than asking it from them, like quizzing, puzzling, etc.

Heeeyyyyyyyyy! Every week, you can ask one of them to prepare topics in HR. Anything related to HR could be recruitment, PA, or other new changes happening in the HR industry. There are many topics they can choose from. They can make a PPT, share management stories followed by team games, etc. This will help your team take a break from what they are doing. They will come across various aspects of HR apart from recruitment, making them aware of what's going on. Moreover, their confidence will grow, and they will become comfortable talking to a crowd.

I hope this will be helpful.

Hi,

My suggestion would be as follows:

1) Movie Day (management movies)
2) Health Promotion Day (e.g. Hand Protection Day, Health Screening, Health talk, Group Aerobics, health games like Hula-Hoop, Clean Bill of Health, Push Up, Sit Up, etc.)
3) Bowling Friendly Match

How it's useful.

Thanks.

Hi Bavna,

As requested, I got it from one of our forum friends' reply:

1) Customer Service: Remember me, Give 'em a pickle
2) Teamwork: Remember the Titans (movie)
3) Interviewing: More than a gut feeling
4) Negotiation/Leadership: 12 Angry Men, Lance Armstrong
5) Motivation: Pygmalion Effect, Miracle Man

Thanks.

Hi Bhavna,

"Guru" by Mani Ratnam. I think it's one of the best movies directed by Mani Ratnam. Full of class, highly motivational, and inspirational scenes, surely the one to watch out for, especially for management people.

If they are stressed out, then initially, make them pick out pieces of paper from a bowl; three papers will have crosses on them; those that picked the crosses must, one by one, relate in detail the most satisfying day of their lives. This will bring back their best memories, and revive and strengthen them. The next week, make the remainder of the group pick out the crosses/blanks. This way everybody will get a chance. Also, those who listen will themselves feel happier and more content.

Try this out. The rest of the day, play some non-management games to take their minds off work and relax them.

Hope this works.
