Hello everyone, I am Nitin, and recently, I got selected for a big consulting company. In my resume, I had written that I was a member of a team at the college level for an annual festival but do not have any certificate for it. Also, there is a very minute calculation mistake in my Class X marks (it is 85.2%, but I had written 85.4%).

Potential Impact on Job Offer

Can these things possibly result in the cancellation of my offer? (Especially the certificate issue)

Talk to a professor and a senior from your college and provide their references in case the company requests the certificate. Alternatively, you can obtain an email from a professor at your college. (I assume you worked on the annual festival arrangement team.)

For the marks, it is just a typo error, and you should proactively bring it to the HR's notice.

These are not very huge mistakes and can be attributed to typographical errors. Regarding the Annual Festival participation, you can inform the company that although you do not possess certificates, you can provide references from the college for them to contact. Alternatively, you may visit your college and request an official letter stating the same information.

Clarification on Typographical Error and Certificate Issue

First, 85.4% is just a typographical error, and no company would take it seriously.

Second, you mentioned that you don't have a certificate regarding an event held at your college. Even this is not a serious issue. When I was in college, I was also part of a few teams involved in organizing events, but I didn't receive a single certificate. So, don't worry.

Thanks for the prompt replies . Actually, there was no official team for it; I mean nothing on paper. My friend was organizing it, and I helped him publicize the event in various colleges. There might have been proper recruitments for the same, but I did it unofficially and wrote it in my resume. Now, what should I do?

Stay cool. It is not a big issue. No organization would insist on such certificates. In fact, most colleges do not even give certificates or appreciation letters for these.

Documents Required for Freshers

As far as freshers are concerned, companies need only copies of marksheets, address proof, and photo proof (for experienced candidates, employment-related certificates too). If you were part of NCC or NSS, they might ask for those certificates as some companies award points for those.

So don't worry about it. A typo error regarding your percentile is also not a big mistake.
