Fake Job Offers Using Our Company Name: How Can We Stop This Scam and Protect Job Seekers?

We are a company based in Bangalore and have a guest house in Gurgaon. It has come to our knowledge that some unscrupulous people have been issuing false appointment letters to aspiring job seekers, asking them to report to our Gurgaon guest house. They have been instructing them to transfer money to their personal accounts.

These unscrupulous individuals have been informing job seekers that they represent portals like call2jobs, Monster.com, etc. They have been requesting job seekers to sign a bond as an acceptance of the offer. The bond includes our company logo, which may have been taken from our website.

Please advise on the actions we should take to ensure that these culprits are apprehended and to prevent aspiring job seekers from being deceived.

What you are reporting is forgery. Please talk to the legal advisor to initiate legal action against them. I request you to act as early as possible because, God forbid, if any candidate files a complaint, they wouldn't target those individuals but rather the name of the company.

Beware of Job Scams Involving Reputed Companies

Even reputed companies/MNCs are facing this problem. Brand names/logos of auto majors like Maruti India and Ashok Leyland are also used by these hackers to loot job aspirants. If you visit the website of Ashok Leyland, you will find a caution notice on the homepage, warning applicants to be cautious of such email notifications.

I have also received an email from "Maruti Udyog Company" instructing me to attend an interview in New Delhi, mentioning that flight charges will be reimbursed. However, I am required to deposit ₹16,500 into their bank account.

You need to file a police complaint and get an FIR registered. If possible, file an FIR in Gurgaon as well. Provide all the details to the police that you already have.

Contacting Other Affected Brand Owners

Next, contact the other brand owners who are affected (e.g., monstor.com). Putting up public notices, especially on your website, warning people not to trust such agencies is another step you can take.

Seeking Specialized Help

Additionally, if you wish, you can seek help from specialized agencies that track brand frauds (I know a good one in Delhi that works on counterfeiting). They can collaborate with the police to trace the individuals and conduct raids/arrests.

Budget Considerations

However, each of these steps (including filing an FIR) costs money. Therefore, discuss with your top management and determine the budget available to decide how to proceed.
