Struggling with Plant Operations: How to Set KPIs for a Remote Vice President?

Dear Seniors and Friends,

We have established a soap noodle manufacturing plant (distillation of fatty acid and production) at Kandla Port, Gujarat. We appointed a G.M. (Works) to ensure the smooth operation of the entire plant, but somehow, we are not able to run our plant smoothly.

Therefore, we decided to create a Vice President post, and I have been asked to design the KRA's and KPI's for this position. Moreover, the person we are going to designate will be based in Mumbai. He is not willing to relocate, so how can I compute his salary, as reporting is not possible on a daily basis?

Reporting daily can be possible. You need to have a login created for him via his office computer. Therefore, the moment he logs into the Mumbai office computer, the attendance can be marked.

Also, if he is not ready to relocate, then how will the smooth working, which is the basic reason that you created this vacancy, be ensured? How can he handle day-to-day work in Kandla from Mumbai?
