Ritika rithu
Hi, I am Ritika. I am new to the HR field and I have started my career as an HR assistant in a newly established company. There are no set rules in this company. As I am new, I am facing difficulties here. So please help me out. Can anyone suggest to me the current leave policy?

Good morning. Could you please specify the industry type in which you are currently working? Please read the model standing order (under the Standing Order Act), which will help you understand the terms of employment, apart from leave rules.

Types of Leave

Generally, companies have the following types of leave:
1. Casual Leave
2. Sick Leave
3. Privilege Leave
4. Comp-Off (on account of working on rest days/Public holidays)
5. Maternity Leave
6. Special Leave (in case the employee does not have leave balance; however, on account of exigencies, they may be allowed to proceed on leave).

The leave policy is designed based on work conditions/environment. However, Maternity leave is governed by the Maternity Act.

For any further support, please feel free to discuss.

Warm Regards,
Anish

You have the provision of leave as follows:

1. Earned leave and compensatory off as per the Factories Act and Rules made thereunder.
2. Maternity leave governed by the Maternity Benefit Act.
3. Casual leave for 7 days.

You can start with the above and make further improvements as per the requirement.
