Confused About Which Company's Bank Statement to Provide for Background Check? Need Help!

Hi all, I recently received an offer from an MNC Company, and they asked me to submit all my documents related to education, experience, and so on. I worked for Company A, which was partnered with Company B when I joined them. The salary was credited from Company B for one year; after that, Companies A & B got partitioned for some reason. I worked for Company A for almost 2 years. The salary for the first year was credited from Company B, and then for the remaining years, Company A credited my salary.

I have submitted all my documents like relieving letters, experience letters, and the last 3 months' pay slips from Company A, as well as the offer letter from Company B. The MNC is now asking for the bank statements for the 1st and last 3 months and/or Form 16. I do not have the Form 16.

Now, my question is, which company's bank statement do I need to provide (A or B)? Both companies credited my salary to my bank account, but I am not sure if it was credited from their respective company accounts. I am very frustrated and request someone to help me sort out this issue.

Privacy Concerns with Bank Statements

Bank statements are private and personal documents, and it is a wrong practice for companies to ask for them. It is supposedly done to ascertain the salary that the candidate is drawing. However, it only exemplifies the ineptness and lack of a good compensation system. Companies should devise their own system based on qualification, experience, or expertise, and the current job market trends in their industry vertical, rather than basing it on what the candidate is earning in their current company.

Providing Bank Statements for Employment Verification

It's a wrong practice to seek a bank statement. The organization can ask for the latest salary slip or increment letter to ensure the compensation declared by the employee is correct.

The first page of the bank statement can be provided to verify the employee's address and account number for salary transfers, etc.

Financial Verification Concerns

Maybe they need your financial verification because the HR department will carry out your financial verification after obtaining permission from your seniors. Perhaps they find you suspicious. So, if you are not engaging in any suspicious activity, please do not worry and submit your bank statement. (We all know that a bank statement is a private and confidential document, but an organization/employer has the right to conduct investigations into any suspicious activity by an employee.)

Thanks, everyone, for your valuable comments. Currently, I am working in another company for about one year, and the salary hike is given to me based on the current company where I am employed now. They are not asking for any details about the current company. They were asking for details of only the first company where I started my career. Since I provided the offer letter from Company B and the relieving, payslip, and experience letter from Company A, I don't know what they suspect to verify. Both companies are registered companies. I am not sure what prompted them to verify my bank account from the first company. When I checked my bank statement today at the bank, as I don't have net banking for those accounts, the salary is credited as SALARY for one year from Company B and Salary from Company A. Since the companies are different, will it cause a problem?
