At the time of joining, I had signed a bond with the company for 3 years of service with a 6-month notice period. I worked for the company for almost 2 years. Two months ago, I resigned from the company and asked them to waive the 6-month notice period because my dad's health was not good. However, I didn't receive a reply until 1 month later. After many emails and reminders, they emailed me saying that they would try to relieve me by the end of May. I reiterated to them that I would work until the 1st week of May, and after that, it would not be possible for me to continue working. To date, I have not received any letter or communication from their side.
Recently, after sending another reminder for my relieving email, I received a letter from the company stating that I had resigned from the company and worked for only 1 month. According to the bond's 6-month notice period, they claim that I am liable to pay 5 months' salary to the company before being relieved.
Can anyone suggest what I can do next?
