Provident Fund Enhancement of Wage Ceiling

The wage ceiling for the Provident Fund is being enhanced from Rs. 6,500/- to Rs. 15,000/-. When is this change going to come into force, and from which month will the implementation begin? Please clarify.

It will take time. EPFO has issued a circular instructing all EOs to visit all covered establishments to:

- Find out the uncovered employees with a salary above Rs 6,500/- and up to Rs 15,000/- per month.
- Discuss with trade unions.

Though both of the above are unnecessary, the final orders of enforcement will come only after this unwanted exercise.
