How Can I Transfer My Old PF Accounts to My New Job Without Issues?

Query Regarding PF Account Transfer

My query is about the transfer of my PF Account. I started my work with Organization 'X' in their Bangalore office, wherein I was allotted a PF number (say TN/MDS/xxxxx/xxx). After 2.5 years, I was transferred to their Mumbai Office where I was given a different PF number (say MH/BAN/xxxxx/xxx). Due to some oversight, the PF amount from my previous account was not transferred to the new account.

Now, after 3 years in the Mumbai office, I have moved to a different organization 'Y' where I have been allotted a new PF number (say KN/BNG/xxxxx/xxx). I want to get the PF from my previous organization transferred to the existing account. I wanted to know the procedure for transferring money from both my earlier accounts to my existing account. Also, since the first PF account has been inoperative for more than 3 years, will I face any trouble in transferring the amount?

In a PF transfer, normally the new employer, the sending PF office, and the receiving PF office are involved. In some cases, the sending and receiving offices will be the same. When you wish to effect the transfer, you would have submitted Form 13 to your new employer. Ask for an acknowledgment of this form submission to the receiving PF office from your new employer. You can use this to follow up with the receiving PF office. You can also consider meeting the PF officials in person, although this may not always be possible. Sometimes, your PF may have been with the old company's PF Trust. In this case, you should follow up with your old employer for the same.

New Initiative by EPFO

The new initiative of the EPFO enabling the generation of E-Passbook will help in giving you the exact status of the PF transfer. There may be a delay in you getting your passbook, but this will be intimated to you via SMS when it is ready for download. Remember that you will not be able to download the passbook for more than one account with the same organization.
