Are ESI Deductions Needed for Contract Teachers in Government Schools?

arun801
I have received a contract from a government school in Haryana for 25 employees. I am supposed to provide them with 25 teachers on contract. I would like to know if I am required to deduct ESI from these employees, as the principal employer in this case is exempted since the place of work is a government school. Additionally, I need a list of non-implemented areas where ESI is applicable.

Kindly reply as soon as possible.

You can check the list on the ESIC website for non-implemented areas. In case the employees are placed in a non-implemented area, you do not need to deduct. However, you need to enroll your organization, file the returns, and also notify the local office that the list of employees is deputed in the non-implemented area.

Thank you.

In order to respond properly to the contents of the thread raised by you, I would like to request you to provide the following information regarding your firm:

1. The location of the government school where you are required to offer services.
2. Whether you have obtained the Code Number under the ESI Act or registration under EPF from the relevant authorities.
3. Whether you have obtained the necessary registration under the Contract Labour (R & A) Act, 1970.

Thank you.

ESI Coverage for Government Schools

Government schools are not covered under ESI. If a contractor's firm is covered, the situation is governed by the provisions of the ESI Act.
