Facing Disciplinary Action for Resigning Early: How to Handle This Dilemma?

I have recently joined an MNC company. Initially, during the interview, they didn't mention that I would be interviewed by the client of the company again. Only if the client was satisfied with my interview would they consider me for the project. Since the client is from Poland, I had difficulty understanding his English slang. Due to this, they did not assign me to the project I was hired for but moved me to another project that is not relevant to my skills. After a couple of days, I did not go to the office, and I sent my resignation to the reporting manager, citing the issue of being placed in an irrelevant project.

Now, they are threatening disciplinary action against me for not serving the 3-month notice period. I only went to the office for two weeks and did not receive any salary as I did not complete even one month there. What should I do now? Please suggest.

Don't get tense about that. Just take a simple step—go and consult your reporting manager and tell them about your problem. Since you have only worked for two weeks, you may still be in your probation period. If you are indeed in the probation period, there is no need to serve a notice period. Nonetheless, since you have already sent them your resignation letter, they should accept it.

Ravi has made a very good suggestion to you. Please inform your reporting manager that the project assigned to you is not relevant and will not add value to your knowledge and skills.

Thanks for the suggestion, Ravi and Jana. I informed the manager that the project is irrelevant to my skills. He said he would put me on the bench and asked me to speak with HR regarding the notice period. Over the phone, she said it's fine; when you have no work, we will release you early. However, I received an email from her stating that I need to serve a 3-month notice period. They are intentionally making it very complex for me. If they had informed me earlier that I needed to clear the interview with the client, then I would have reconsidered joining this company.

Understanding Termination Clauses During Probation

First of all, please let us know the termination clause during probation to have a clear understanding. For a 2-week job, the company cannot require you to serve a 3-month notice period.
