Inquiry About Bonus and Hike Criteria

I want to write an email to express my dissatisfaction and inquire about the criteria used for deciding the percentage of the hike, as it differs among peers.

Ex-Employee Concerns Regarding Bonus

I would like to bring to your attention that I am an ex-employee of ABC company who worked for 1 year and 8 months. I was informed by HR that I will not be receiving a bonus in my Full and Final settlement. Why?

I was under the impression that, being in the same salary + bonus cycle, serving the notice period, and with no mention in the offer letter that employees in notice are ineligible for a bonus, I should have received it. If this is the case, such critical information should have been communicated to employees during the Induction/Joining Day by HR. Additionally, according to the company policy and what was communicated during induction by HR, we were supposed to receive a bonus after completing a year.

As per the company policy, I should have received it last year. Unfortunately, due to corporate politics and poor HR management, I did not receive the bonus, which was highly disappointing.

Discrepancy in Bonus Allocation

To my knowledge, the approval for the bonus was already given by you in the month of April. Furthermore, Ms. XYZ, who joined four months ago as FOE, received a bonus even though she has not completed her probation period. How and why?

On what basis did ABC give her a bonus? What kind of discrimination is this?

You may also be aware that there were approximately 7 ex-employees – Mr. 1, Mr. 2, Mr. 3, and Ms. 4 – who have completed their probation periods, and some have been with ABC for 5 years, yet they did not receive their bonuses, not even in their Full and Final settlements.

Although we received statutory bonuses during Diwali, which were of XAMOUNT/- for those who completed a year, Ms. XYZ should not be eligible for even a minimal bonus. So, how did she receive a 100% bonus?

Concerns About Company Standards

Where does ABC stand in terms of its standards? Is this how they treat their employees? If so, I, and others, would not recommend joining ABC.

Please provide an explanation of what I and others who have left the organization did wrong to be deemed ineligible for a bonus.

After sending this email, I anticipate that my Full and Final settlement will likely be put on hold for an unknown period, as that is how ABC upholds its standards.

When you are aware that if you send this mail, your Full and Final (FNF) settlement will be put on hold, why would you want to take the chance? Instead, wait for the FNF to be processed, and if you are not satisfied with the FNF calculation, you can then send the mail.

With regards to the bonus as per the Act, the company is liable to pay. If it is apart from the Bonus Act, it is purely at the management's discretion.
