Understanding Leave Entitlements under Shop and Establishment Act

Can anyone tell me what is the minimum number of leaves which any company has to grant to its employees? My organization is covered under the AP Shops & Establishments Act, and the act provides a maximum of 12 Casual Leaves (CL) and 12 Sick Leaves (SL). There is no minimum limit specified anywhere.

Minimum Leave Requirements Under the Shop and Establishment Act

As per the Shop and Establishment Act, you are required to provide a minimum of 24 leaves to an employee. If an employee takes more than 24 leaves in a year, you can deduct it from their paid leaves.

Thank you for your response. However, I would like to draw your attention to Sec-30(5) of the Act, which reads as follows:

"Every employee in any establishment shall also be entitled during his first twelve months of continuous service and during every subsequent twelve months of service (a) to leave with wages for a period not exceeding twelve days on the ground of any sickness or accident and (b) to casual leave with wages for a period not exceeding twelve days on any reasonable ground."

The words used in the section are "period not exceeding 12 days," which means the maximum number of leaves permitted is 12.

Kindly share your thoughts.

With regards to leave, it is always about maximizing utilization, so there is no minimum limit for leaves. If any employee does not take any sick leave or casual leave during the year, it will lapse automatically.

Hope that the query is resolved.
