Feeling Demoted: How Should I Handle Being Moved Back to the Front Desk?

Swathi vennala
I am working in a software company as a Core HR. I joined as an HR Executive in November 2012. On the first day of my joining, I came to know that it's "Front Office cum HR Executive" (I thought that as a fresher, I first needed to gain experience, so I adjusted for that), but I was not comfortable with the work I was asked to do.

After 8 months, I got a promotion as a Core HR, and my place was shifted from the front desk. We recruited a new candidate for the front desk. Now, she (front desk) was terminated because of non-performance, and management is not ready to recruit one more candidate, it seems. They asked me to sit at the front desk again, but I am not comfortable with that.

How can I shift to that position? Does it not look like a demotion? Please help me, what should I do.

Hi, if you are handling other important profiles, you should make all efforts to convince your management to take a chance and recruit someone for the front desk. If your management is convinced, after recruitment, you should closely mentor the new entrant so that he/she can perform to the expectations of the management.

Thanks,
