How to Reassure a Job Candidate Without Sending an Offer Letter Yet?

MeghnaSingh
Hi All, I am working in a real estate company and have a query. For example, I have a position of Sales Manager in my organization, and I have interviewed a candidate who is a good fit for the role. We have had all kinds of discussions with him. Now, the issue is that I have come across another candidate with more experience and who is willing to accept a lower salary than what I offered to the first candidate. Both candidates are available for an interview on the 16th, and the first candidate is eagerly waiting for an offer letter. I am reluctant to lose the first candidate as I have not yet interviewed the second one. Is there any way I can assure the first candidate of his job offer without actually sending out the offer letter? If the second candidate is not suitable, I will send the offer letter to the first candidate immediately. What kind of written communication can I provide to assure him of his job offer without sending the offer letter yet?

Thanks, Meghna

Candidate Selection Process

Do not keep the first candidate in abeyance. If you are confident that the second candidate is a good fit, you can provide assurance that we are in the process of finalizing the candidate. It will take about a week.

Do one thing, tell the first candidate that the discussion is ongoing regarding your joining, as you are a perfect match for this position. Finally, the date given by the management is the 17th. I will confirm with you on the 17th.

Candidate Selection Dilemma

You should not get confused. If both candidates are found suitable for you, then select one among them without giving assurance to the candidate. Salary is not a major factor for the right candidate. You should always evaluate the candidate based on their qualifications, experiences, attitudes, etc. Most importantly, they should be cooperative and reliable individuals. Do not focus solely on the salary; if you offer a good salary, people will stay, but if the salary is low, they will seek other opportunities.
