Understanding Contribution and Benefit Periods in ESI

Please see Regulation 4 of the ESI (General) Regulations, 1952, which defines Contribution and Benefit Periods.

Regards,
Apex Management
Please note that two contribution periods are provided in the scheme, i.e., 1st April - 30th September and 1st October - 31st March each year. Similarly, the benefit periods are from 1st July - 31st December and 1st January - 30th June each year.

You may be aware that an individual participating in the scheme receives benefits under general sickness (except for accident cases) based on the contributions made in the preceding contribution period.
