Understanding HRM vs. International HRM: How Can We Adapt and Train for Industry Needs?

mandarindian
Hi,

Can anyone please tell me the difference between Human Resource Management and International Human Resource Management? I would also like to know the need for these in today's industries. How can I, in my organization, deal with this change of HRM and IHRM? Is there any sort of training program to be organized? If yes, then what should be the content of the training program.

Waiting for a reply.

Hi Mandar,

The basic difference between HRM and IHRM is the word "I," which means you are dealing with people not just in your organization or industry but with people who are global. This would mean different people from different countries under one organization or just organizations internationally around the globe. Handling these diverse people in tandem with their culture and needs while keeping organizational needs in mind is what IHRM is all about. At least that's what I think it is all about. Different people have diverse needs based on their culture, upbringing, language, adaptability, and diverse work environments.

How can all these people perform and build up as human resources when they are put together? How can we achieve individual goals as well as organizational goals and get optimum results from people who are indeed so different and work through not only culture and language barriers but also help them adapt to change with respect to their surroundings? So, I think IHRM includes everything that HRM involves but only at a higher and more complex level simply because it relates to and deals with a large workforce or human resources who are not just diverse but also building blocks on a global platform.
