"IMP" means Insurance Medical Practitioner. When a private doctor is engaged by ESIC for providing medical treatment to the insured persons and their families residing in an area, he is called an Insurance Medical Practitioner (IMP).

So far as I know, the engagement of such private doctors is limited to very few states, particularly in Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, and West Bengal.
