Waiting for an Offer Letter: Am I Rejected or Just Stuck in Limbo with This MNC?

acer87
I had given the interview with a big MNC (CMMI Level 5). I considered myself to have been selected for the position because I have filled out the Employee Background Verification and Employee Details forms. In the HR round, the salary discussion was done, and HR was supposed to roll out my offer letter in a couple of days. However, it's been almost 20 days, and I still have not received any offer letter or call. When I asked HR regarding this, the following were the replies I got:

1. Will revert in a day’s time.
2. You will get a call today and will close it by tomorrow.

After all this, I sent the following mail to HR, but I have not received any response yet:

Dear Sir,
If you are planning not to hire me or if the position is closed, please let me know so that I can move on with my further opportunities. It's been almost 20 days, and I am stuck here, unable to make my next move.

With Regards,
Rajesh

What do the above statements imply? Am I rejected or on hold? What am I supposed to do next?

Thanks,
Rajesh

You may need to wait until they respond. They may be on the lookout to fit you into a location/designation based on your profile.

From the above statements from HR, it is amply clear that your case is under process. I would like to advise you to wait patiently until you receive an offer.

From the mail you sent, it could be inferred that you are impatient. I would suggest that such an impression should not be conveyed to a prospective employer.

With best wishes,

In really large organizations, the decision-making process can be slow. However, to be fair, it is also wrong on the company's part to tell you that they will get back to you in a day and keep it pending for 20 days. Are they even acknowledging your emails?

I think you should start looking elsewhere in parallel and hope for the best.

Dear Adityasoak,

Yes, I am receiving acknowledgment emails from them. The email which I posted here has not received any response yet. I sent that email to HR yesterday.

I have other offers as well, but I am more eager to join this company specifically as it is a good one compared to others. My joining date is approaching, and I have already taken two extensions in joining. So, I am confused about what to do next. Should I join another company, or should I wait until this process completes?

You can write to them earnestly to gain clarity on your candidature so you can move on. Did you happen to take the contact numbers of any of your recruiters? Contact them and explain your situation. You don't have to mention other offers, but the fact remains that once you have clarity—whether it's a yes or no—you can plan for your future accordingly. Drive these points home.

Yes, I have their contact numbers. I had contacted them twice and received the same response: "We are about to roll out your offer. Please wait for a while; we will get back to you within a day or two."
