Zone I Clarification Under Minimum Wages Act

arunmjadhav
Dear Sir,

I, the undersigned, am working in MIDC Shiroli, Kolhapur. I am confused about whether my company falls under Zone I or Zone III. My company is not located within the municipal area of Kolhapur, and we are paying tax (GharFala) to the gram panchayat in Shiroli. Therefore, can I consider that since my company is not within the municipal area, it falls under Zone III?

Alternatively, my company is within a 20-kilometer radius of the municipal corporation, but we do not pay any tax to the municipal corporation. Simply because it is within a 20 km radius of the municipal corporation, can I consider my company to fall under Zone I?

I would appreciate your valuable suggestions on the above matter.

Thank you.

Maharashtra state has been classified into groups A, B, C, D, and D+ according to industrial development.

Group A comprises the developed areas, namely the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) and Pune Metropolitan Region (PMR).

Group B comprises the areas where some development has taken place.

Group C comprises the areas, which are less developed than those in Group B.

Group D comprises the lesser-developed areas of the state not covered under Group A, Group B, or Group C.

Group D+ comprises those least developed areas not covered under Group A, Group B, Group C, or Group D.

Zones in Maharashtra are classified by the Ministry of Labour.

Zone 1 comprises the area falling within the limits of all 'A' and 'B' class Municipal Corporations.

Zone II comprises the areas falling within the limits of all 'C' and 'D' class Municipal Corporations and 'A' class Municipal Councils and Cantonment areas.

Zone III comprises all other areas in the state which are not included in Zone I and Zone II.

Hello,

According to me, the best way would be to inquire about your query from your nearby municipal corporation office. They may provide you with all the answers to your questions.

Dear Anonymous,

Please refrain from providing unhelpful responses. This information cannot be obtained from the municipal corporation. It has already been clarified that his company does not fall under the jurisdiction of the municipal corporation area.

Thank you.
