Understanding ESI Benefits: Can Employees Get Support for Non-Workplace Injuries?

nagpal
Hi Members,

I want to know about the benefits under ESI in case of an accident. If an employee gets injured outside the premises of the company, not in the course of employment, is he entitled to temporarily disabled benefits from ESI? The employer is not providing accident insurance or a workmen's scheme. How can an employee avail of these benefits? What is the prescribed limit for the benefits, and how does the medical board analyze the benefits under ESI for a disabled person? Please help me with this issue.

Yes, he can claim the admissible sickness benefits for the days lost, subject to his becoming eligible for that.
