Whistle Blow Policy - Will It Help

manjaysinghkashyap
Hi,
I have found biased performance rating and forced rating done to employee, those who work hard and have achieved targets are rated low and those with mistakes are given good rating as they are good in the books of their line managers and HR is also quite about that, will it be fine if i blow whistle as per my company policy.
please suggest if my job would be safe.

First of all let the forum know since how long are you with the company, what is your role/designation in the company, so as to ascertain the gravity and give our view appropriately.
Last but not the least since you are with the company you will be the best judge than the forum about your job safety when you blow whistle.

i am in this company from past 4 years... and i am in middle management.

Well since you are in Middle Management, what are the chances of hearing your case at Top Management. If it is a MNC there are less chances

Does your company have a whistle-blower policy ?
How well has it worked ?
What has been the history ?
Why do you need to even go to that extent.
If you are a middle manager and the problem is affecting your team performance, you can always talk to HR head and see how it can be resolved. But do you actually have evidence that the rating and evaluation is biased ? Or is it just your opinion ? Have you actually seen the evaluation ?

Hello,
While blowing whistle is a good idea...please keep the following questions in mind:
-Is it relevant
-Is it directly related to you or your team.
-Do you have the relevant and exact data to prove the same...
My suggestions is:
Do it only if u are 101% confident about the same. Otherwise let the once who've got effected raise voice (if they are ok with their appraisal and are silent-why are you concerned)
please do not invite unnecessary trouble by questioning managers until you have correct data (like target achievement etc).
Hope it helps..
All the best!!

Blowing the whistle on financial frauds can be proven with documented facts. However, performance mgmt is a slightly more subjective area. Are you one of the aggrieved party? WHat is the size of ur organisation? U have made a very sweeping statement that - I have found biased performance rating and forced rating done to employee, those who work hard and have achieved targets are rated low and those with mistakes are given good rating as they are good in the books of their line managers
Is it particular to one department or is it throughout ur organisation. U need to have solid proof before doing this.

make sure you have a valid proof of this before going ahead. Also, pls do this keeping in mind the track record of whistle-blows done previously, this is to make sure that it doesn't jeopardize your job in the organization.
