Is It Normal for a School to Pay Salaries in Cash Without PF Deductions? Seeking Advice

My wife is a teacher in a local private school, and her salary is $5000 monthly. She receives her salary in cash, and her school does not deduct any PF for its employees. There are over 40 employees in the school. Is this normal, or is the school violating any rules? Please advise.

On the day the strength is above 20, the EPF coverage is mandatory. The school authorities are taking a high risk.

Thank you, Ramakant. Also, is there any legal loophole that the school might be taking advantage of? Do you know? We are planning to send a legal show-cause notice, so we are doing the utmost research before doing that.

Are you sure the school has obtained registration under the EPF & MP Act, 1952? If yes, then they might be depriving a few employees of the benefits of the Act, and all the employees if the reply is negative. In both cases, just submit a complaint to the Regional Provident Fund Commissioner and Area Enforcement Officer of the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation either severally or jointly, mentioning the name and complete address of the school, your date of joining, rate of pay, etc., and appropriate action will be taken by the authority concerned.
