How Can I Correct My Service Certificate's Inaccurate Departure Reason? Seeking Advice

unsan
Hi all, I recently received a service certificate from my previous employer after requesting it. Let me clarify that I served the company for 3 years. Due to medical reasons, I had to leave the company and return home. Before leaving, I had a conversation with HR to request an early release, but they insisted that I serve the notice period, which was not feasible for me.

Now, upon receiving the service certificate, I noticed that they have cited the reason for my departure as abandonment of service, a claim that is not acceptable to me. How should I approach my former employer to request a revised service certificate that accurately reflects my time with the company? What would be the appropriate format for such a request?

Please assist me with this matter. Thank you.

Failure to give notice cannot be treated as absconding, as you have already informed them about your departure. However, due to medical reasons, you were unable to provide notice. If you had left without any prior notification, it could have been considered as absconding.

If they have labeled you as absconding, they should have issued you a show-cause notice or a charge sheet seeking clarification or information regarding the situation.

I hope this helps clarify the situation. Let me know if you need any further assistance.

Thank you very much, Tushar, for the suggestion. I had spoken, and they are saying this is what they have in the records, and this is the standard service certificate format they have. What should I do now? Please suggest.

Can you offer to buy out the notice period? If they have already recorded it as an abscond case, the chances are that they haven't closed your full and final settlement. Please initiate it with a request on the humanity groups. Hope it works.
