Our organization is a continuous process in nature. We can't shut down our plant for a full day because it will take a long time to reactivate the process. The plant is running round the clock. So, people working here are local as well as from distant places and other states. How should we proceed on the day of the election in the state? I need help from all of you. Please assist me.

Dear Shailza,

The Election Commission has declared a holiday on the day of polling. However, observing a holiday for the full day depends on the operations of the company. In your case, it is not necessary that you will have to declare a holiday but to facilitate the locals to exercise their franchise by giving them leave of 2-3 hours. Tamil Nadu was the only exception, but there might have been some exceptions in industries of your nature with prior permission of authorities. However, you should verify the practice in the industries in your area and follow the same for uniformity.

Regards
