Clarification on Shift Overlapping Under the Factory Act

I need some clarification on the "overlapping of Shift" as per the Factory Act. Is a 5-15 minute overlapping of shifts permissible under the Factory Act? Kindly provide assistance on this issue.

As a general rule, the overlapping of shifts is not allowed. See Section 58 of the Factories Act 1948 - Prohibition of Overlapping Shifts. However, as per Section 65, the Chief Inspector of Factories for your state has the power to pass an exempting order. You will have to make a strong case for being granted relaxation. But without such an order, please do not have overlapping shifts; otherwise, you are sure to be penalized under the Act.
