Rejoining an Employee: How to Handle PF Register and Rejoining Procedures?

Rejoining Employee and PF Register Query

I am Titan Sheikh, and I need help with the following query: An employee left our company six months ago and now wants to rejoin. My question is, how should I maintain the PF register in this case? I have already submitted his date of leaving in the previous PF return (Electronic Cum-Challan), but his PF amount hasn't been withdrawn to date, and I haven't processed any paperwork for this.

Should I proceed with the rejoining? If yes, please guide me through the procedure, as I am trying to find the rejoining procedure but am unable to do so. I am maintaining the monthly return using the monthly e-return software tools provided by the EPFO Portal (website). However, the option for the rejoining procedure is not available.

If you are considering him for fresh employment again and worrying about his previous PF, then do one thing: once you consider him for fresh employment, provide him with a new PF code. You may transfer his previous PF amount to the new PF account by filling out the transfer form. I think this is the easiest way to solve this. Let other members also contribute their views.

What I am trying to tell you is that you don't need to show in PF as a rejoinee. You can show as a fresh new joinee in the company records. Once you allocate him the new PF account number, you ask the respective employee to fill out Form 13 for the transfer from his previous PF account to the new PF account provided by you after rejoining.

There is no need to worry about your past PF. If you rejoin the organization, there is a clause in the return regarding re-joining with effect from (i.e., Date of Joining); on that basis, your joining will be treated as a new joining. The period in between shows in the yearly return as a "non-contribution period."

Therefore, there is no question that the PF period in the same company will be shown as a continued period. If you have any queries, please revert.
