Dear All,

I have recently joined this community. I must say it's a great help for HR professionals. I would welcome your suggestions and ideas on HR events/activities that can be conducted to keep employees motivated, develop team building among employees, and help enhance technical knowledge and communication skills.

Thanks.

Dear Poonam,

Here are a few activities that you can introduce in your organization:

A.
- Birthday and marriage celebrations
- Long service awards
- Festival celebrations/organizing traditional days
- In-house refresher programs for employees (by in-house or outside trainers)
- Team-building trips (conducted by professional trainers)

B.
- Mentoring (for new employees)
- Setting of KPAs and monthly monitoring of the same
- Regular technical training programs by colleagues or senior employees
- Behavioral training programs
- Exchange programs between two different functional areas

These are a few very basic activities just to give you a hint on how much can be done on this front. You can also tie up with Corporate Training Institutes for the same.

Dear Poonam,

To add on to what you are asking for here will entirely depend on the kind of service/manufacturing industry your company is in. The proposed activities/team building activities, motivational talks, etc., will all depend on various factors such as your company's focus, what the need of the hour is, and where anyone needs training, etc. There should be a proper needs analysis done before planning anything.

You will be doing a lot, and it may be well-received. BUT does it make business sense to do it? That is the question to answer first.
