Confused About Job Roles and Responsibilities in an MNC Email? Let's Break It Down Together

S.Harshini
Hi all, I received an email from a reputable MNC. Below are the roles and responsibilities mentioned. Can someone explain what it actually entails? I am quite confused.

There is nothing that you have mentioned about receiving a mail from an MNC. Some companies do send out emails outlining the roles and responsibilities for a particular position either before your personal interview or before you accept an offer. This is done to clarify the position you are to handle. Please mention the points clearly that you have received in the email so that I can explain them to you in a better way.

Thank you.

Understanding Roles and Responsibilities

Most people often get confused between roles and responsibilities. Let us understand this with an example: for a sales manager, achieving sales targets is his responsibility.

Roles of a Sales Manager

The role he plays includes:

• Team building
• Planning the work of team members
• Guiding and coaching team members
• Controlling the work of his team members

All these are roles. Responsibility is normally associated with achieving results, while roles are related to the process of achieving results.

I hope this explanation clears your doubts.

Driving employee engagement in the unit/location up to SA level means your employer wants you to manage employees up to the SA level.

Executing and sustaining the initiatives at the BU/Location Level through a systematic approach means you will be responsible for policy-making and execution for the business unit.

Assimilation, Communication & Feedback, Exciting Workplace engagement, Recognition Program, Grievance Handling, and Retention mean you will be responsible for handling grievances, employee retention, collecting employee feedback, communication, engaging employees at the workplace, etc.

They have revealed their expectations from you.

Hope this will clear your doubts.

Understanding Roles and Responsibilities

Roles and responsibilities are essentially the job description (JD) for your new assignment. Multinational corporations (MNCs) have certain standard operating procedures, and accordingly, the HR department will issue the JD either separately or along with your offer of appointment letter.

After joining, your Key Result Areas (KRAs) or Key Performance Areas (KPAs) will be established, and you will work towards achieving these goals. During the salary revision, an appraisal of your performance will be conducted (with or without your presence) to assess your performance, and feedback regarding any shortfalls will be communicated to you.

Thank you.
