How to Draft an Objection Letter for a 60% Minimum Wage Increase in Our Industry?

Pooja D Patel
I am working in a chemical company. We received notice of a 60% rise in minimum wages. Our industrial association is asking for an objection letter from all the companies. Can anyone help me to draft the same?

Thanks & Regards,

I respect your decision to object to the government notification, but could you please share why you made such a decision? Nowadays, the cost of living is very high, and the government has made these decisions based on figures.

True, but a 60% rise cannot be acceptable, right? A 60% increase is disproportionate and unsustainable for both large-scale and small-scale industries. Therefore, we would like to object to the same. However, we need some assistance in drafting a suitable response. Can you help?

Enclosed herewith is the objection letter format for your kind perusal. Please fill in the data step by step to submit your application. I found this letter from online sources.

Industry Wage Hike Clarification

As per my knowledge, all industries typically receive an average 30% hike, not 60%. Please confirm this from your end. Additionally, the government has decided not to bifurcate the minimum wage according to industry specifications, so the minimum wage will be the same for all.

It is a normal procedure in government operations that they publish a draft notification in the Official Gazette, inviting objections or suggestions from the affected parties. All such objections or suggestions received from the affected parties are taken into consideration by the government on or after the expiry of two months from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.

In the instant case, the Government of Gujarat has mentioned that any objections or suggestions may be sent to the Principal Secretary, Labour and Employment Department, Block No. 5, 6th Floor, New Sachivalaya, Gandhinagar. As such, you have to prepare a letter addressed to the Principal Secretary, Labour and Employment Department, New Sachivalaya, Gandhinagar, mentioning which part of the proposed notification is objected to and the reasons thereof. Any alternate suggestions can also be mentioned in the letter.
