Facing Legal Trouble for Leaving a Job Early: What Are My Options and Defenses?

KITE1212
I have joined an IT company, and the company had me sign a service agreement (on an A4 sheet) which states that the employee has to serve the company for two years. If the employee fails to do so, they have to pay the training cost, which is around 4 lakh rupees. Additionally, the company has a Non-Disclosure Agreement on stamp paper that includes points related to the company's privacy policy. However, the last line of that agreement states that all the terms and conditions stated in the service agreement also apply here.

Due to a critical illness, I had to come back to my hometown for treatment. It has been 2 months since I have been on leave (unofficially), and now I have decided to stay back for further studies (PG) and not re-join the company.

Now, my questions are:

1. What possible legal actions can the company take against me?
2. What should I do in my defense?
3. If the company sends me some kind of notice, should I reply to it or just ignore it?

I have written an email to my lead and manager initially to inform them about my illness, but I have not been in touch with them for more than a month. However, I have contacted one of my colleagues, and he mentioned that they are sending me some kind of notice. I am unsure whether it is legal or just a normal notice. What is the maximum they can do in my case?

Regards.
