Can Contract Workers Raise Industrial Disputes Against Employers? Seeking Clarity on Rights and Standing Orders

hekarthik
Dear senior, please let me know: Are contract workers entitled to raise an industrial dispute against their principal employer? Do standing orders apply to contract workers?

Generally, contract workmen are not entitled to raise an industrial dispute against the principal employer. However, in special circumstances, such as a demand for the eventual absorption of contract labour engaged in operations subsequently abolished under Section 10, a dispute can be raised but should be espoused by the regular workmen. Standing orders of an industrial establishment are not applicable to the contract labour engaged therein.

Regards.
