License Requirements for Driving a Tractor with a Trolley

To drive a tractor with a trolley, especially when carrying a load within factory premises, you typically require a specific type of license. These licenses are usually categorized based on the vehicle's weight, purpose, and the environment in which it will be operated. It is essential to comply with the relevant regulations and obtain the appropriate license to ensure safety and legal compliance while operating such vehicles in an industrial setting.

In factories where the Factory Act applies, a license is not required for forklift or tractor driving. However, periodic training is essential for drivers. It is even better if drivers possess a license issued by the Road & Traffic Officer. Traffic rules do not apply within the confines of the factory.

Thank you.

Dear Ravi, you can refer to the Motor Vehicle Act, 1988.

Section 2 - Subsection (21)

“Light motor vehicle” means a transport vehicle or omnibus, the gross vehicle weight of either of which, or a motor car or tractor or road-roller, the unladen weight of any of which does not exceed [7500] kilograms.

I have attached a soft copy of the same.
