Is a Landlord's PAN Number Enough for HRA Claims Over 1 Lac, or Is a Copy Required?

Hi Seniors, can you please suggest whether a PAN No is sufficient to claim HRA above 1 lac, or if a copy of the landlord's PAN card is required? I have submitted my HRA claim above 1 lac and provided the PAN card number of the landlord to the accounting department. However, they are insisting that a copy of the PAN card is required to process the claim; otherwise, the claim will be disallowed if only the PAN number is given. As the landlord is out of the country and unable to provide a copy, I have obtained the number from them and have included it in my rent slips.

Thanks,

PAN Card Requirement for HRA Claims

A copy of the PAN card is not required to be produced; only quoting the PAN of the landlord is necessary. Refer to the CBDT circular issued in October 2013. Search the internet and provide a copy of the circular to the Accounts section.
