Can I Withdraw My Provident Fund Using a Joint Account with My Mom? Seeking Advice!

Hi, since I do not have my own bank account, can I withdraw my PF by providing joint account details with my mother, with my mother being the primary account holder? I resigned last year and am currently not working.

It would be better if you open your own account, especially in a nationalized bank. Make sure you have all the required IDs with you so that you can easily open the account and avoid any difficulties in accessing your PF.

As you have mentioned that your joint account is with your mother, please note that it is not valid for the withdrawal of PF. A joint account is valid only in the case of a spouse. Therefore, it is better to open your own account. It may be with any bank, but the bank should have NEFT facility, which is a must, as now EPFO is processing the withdrawal cases through NEFT only. Hope this information helps you.

Thank you so much, bcarya, for your valuable information. I think I have to go with a joint account with my spouse since I don't have any address proof for a new bank account of my own.
