Cant Join Competitor Firm For 6 Months After Reliving From Current Employer

Dear Sir,
Currently am working for XYZ company and company have singed non compete agreement electronically which says you cant join competitor firm, currently i have been offered by competitor firm to Join the company in India and work in abroad, can someone please advise will my current company can take any kind of action on me if i join competitor firm?
