Amazon Research, Book reading, development, motivation, inspiration, improvement. Recent research by Amazon resulted in a list of 100 books that one should read in a lifetime. We aim to create a collection of these books for discussion, write reviews, and provide summaries for enhancement and learning.

I went through the Amazon list of books and was disappointed to find that works like Harry Potter and The Hunger Games made it to the list instead of Isaac Asimov's books, Jonathan Stroud's Bartimaeus books, the Artemis Fowl series by Eoin Colfer, Neil Gaiman's books, Lee Child's books, and many others. I don't understand if the criteria were reading or revenue-earning.

Just my rant 

Thanks for sharing your views, Ryan. My opinion is that it's great motivation to read, and altogether the list seems good. It never stops us from reading more. Let's all give it a try. Together we win, to be better than what we are today!

I appreciate your effort in presenting this information as well as your advice to other readers. I have also read a couple of them. However, I have an apprehension. In India, there could be a similar kind and quality of books (in English) available, authored by both known and lesser-known writers. If someone with the same spirit made similar efforts to promote our publications, that would be equally appreciated. Furthermore, if we delve deeper, we may find many publications in various Indian languages as well.

I am not complaining about this effort. Since nobody has compiled Indian publications, this effort is commendable. Please do not interpret my words in that way.

My concern is not to sideline our identity while promoting others. If we do not promote our identity, no one else will. I apologize if my words have hurt you.

Regards,
Suresh
