Considering SAP HR Training: Can It Help Me Land a Job as a Fresher in HR?

akshitha.n
Hello seniors, I am planning to take a SAP HR course. I have experience as an HR executive for one and a half years. My question is, if I take the SAP HR course, will I be able to get a job as a fresher? Or do I need to have some additional experience? Is that a good decision or not? Please give me your suggestions.

Thanks & regards,

SAP - HCM adds to your capability as an HR person to implement and maintain various standard processes using SAP. If you aspire to develop as an HR person, then you should be conversant with the basics of HR as SAP only helps in implementing the same. On the other hand, if you get trained enough to troubleshoot issues arising out of the implementation of SAP, you can also develop as an SAP consultant. As an SAP consultant, you should be capable enough to handle multiple queries and provide software support to users apart from regular maintenance of the SAP application in your organization.

So, your career will depend on the way you choose, and of course, your skill level will matter.

Thank you for all your suggestions. I have one doubt; everybody is saying that organizations are not encouraging SAP freshers. Everyone is asking for experience only. Is that true? If that is the case, what should a fresher do?

Hi Akshita, your question is really good.

Challenges for Freshers in the SAP Market

The reality in the SAP market is that it's very tough for a fresher to get an opening, as companies generally look for experienced people. This is because it's easier for them to put the person directly on a project with their clients. However, for a fresher, they need to be trained, and he/she has to gain the required project experience to handle the responsibilities of an SAP consultant.

Many people resort to putting fake experience as the requirement demands it, but it's not a good practice as nowadays employers conduct stringent background checks to catch these offenders.

Advice for Aspiring SAP Consultants

My advice would be to undergo SAP certification from a reputed SAP partner, learn, and practice SAP as much as you can.

Additionally, the software field works on references, especially true for SAP. If you have friends working in companies, seek their help and forward your resume through them; you will have a better chance to get an interview call.

It's also worth noting that SAP companies do hire freshers, but these opportunities are limited. They generally recruit from reputable colleges or internal placements.

Therefore, if you are planning to build your career in SAP, you will need to dedicate your efforts to learning and mastering SAP. There are plenty of forums, books, and documents available to assist you in this journey.

I hope this answers your questions. All the best.
