Seeking Book Recommendations on ESI, EPF, and Salary Management for SSIs

Deep1012
Hi Everybody, this is Pradeep. I am working in an SSI as an HR professional. I would like to know about the books available on ESI and EPF calculation procedures. I am also interested in materials on salary and benefits management that are applicable in private SSIs.

Thanks,
Pradeep

For EPF and ESI, you can buy any books that contain rules, regulations, and schemes under the Acts. There are no Acts on salary and benefits exclusively for SSI. Simply because a unit is an SSI, there are no exemptions from any labor laws.

Options for Accessing EPFO and ESIC Information

With reference to your query, you have two options:

• Either go to the official EPFO/ESIC website and download the Act directly. The link for the same is: EPFO <link updated to site home> and Employee's State Insurance Corporation.

• Or, you can buy an Employees Provident Fund and Pension Scheme 1952 and Employees State Insurance Act 1948 book, freely available in the market. Just ensure you get the most recent printed publication of 2014.

I would like to recommend the following books written by Sh. HL Kumar, who is an Advocate and Editor of Labour Law Reporter:

- Practical Guide to Employees' Provident Funds Act, Rules, and Schemes
- Practical Guide to Employees State Insurance Act, Rules, and Regulations

I have been using these two books for reference, and I find them very handy, useful, and exhaustive. The books contain case law references, different schemes at a glance, obligations of an employer under these Acts, day-to-day problems, and their clarifications, etc.
