Dear Hussain,
It may cause electrocution hazard and welding quality will not come good,
- it should proper tight.
- you can use damaged cables for cover and overlap the working cables lugs joint with double tapping.

Dear Jakeer,
Hope you have some knowledge on electrical installation.
Check what happens when there is a an improper contact/connection. As the line or equipment is energized, at the point there will be a chance of heavy sparks. Every time it happens, more current will flow and momentarily voltage will increase many folds. Again at these points there is a chance of carbon deposits. Where carbon gets deposited the area becomes blackened and takes more current. Metal will be eaten away. It will cause more and more current to flow and there are many more issues related to the improper lugs.
Apart from safety issues it also affects the welding quality because of variation in current and voltage.

Hi zakir Hussain
Hope you got your answer. Lugs / thimble have very important role in welding operation. I hats of to kesava pillai for his well explanation all time.
If lugs are damaged then there is a great risk of electrocution & also a chances of fire . On the other hand the quality of work will get disturb due to improper lugs or connection.
If you need brief explanation then plz follow OSHA 1926 sub part j' title welding.

Dear Hussain
if not proper connection of welding machines, may be fire/sparking from legs, over heat, cable damage, electrocution, electric burns, getting poor quality work etc
