Refilling Procedures Of Fire Extinguisher

Dear All,
Please clear my doubt over refilling procedures of fire extinguisher .
We used our 2 Kg (Capacity) ABC Type fire Extinguisher for a training purpose in February 2013 & we refilled it on the same month.
But as per the IS 2190:2010 -Annexure -D/Clauses 11.4.1 and 12.3 (Refilling schedule for fire extinguishers & Schedule for operational test) I learnt that ABC type Extinguishers should be refilled once in 3 years.
But the agency which refilled the extinguisher mentioned on the sticker (Pasted on the extinguisher) that the next refilling date is February 2014.
What should we do ?
Whether we will refill it in Feb- 2014 or Feb -2016. ?

Dear Santosh,
refilling period for any fire extinguisher is 1 yr. in no use condition, if u use any fire ext for training purpose than you may refill it with in 8-10 days. Fire agency use two kind of slips on fire ext. One for monthly service (check pressure, bolts etc.) and second for yearly service. You may refilled it in feb.14.

You know,The fire Extinguisher's works on pressure,so small fire extinguisher like 2 kg,5 kg has small cartridge or compressed air for pressure,
it may empty (Cartridge & Compressed air) without use , so fire extinguisher's Vendors keep 1 year minimum time for small fire extinguisher refilling.

Refilling of Fire Extinguishers need not be done every year. As per IS: 2190, as mentioned in the above schedule, if the fire extinguisher is maintained properly (Monthly & quarterly routines), it can be refilled every three years. Agencies maintaining Fire Extinguishers insist to refill every year for their business motive only. IS:2190 is a very good guide to maintain Fire Extinguishers and the guidelines can be following without any ambiguity.
