Hi All, I have resigned from my job in December and gave a one-month notice period due to family reasons, which is considered incomplete. My employer gave me a relieving letter; however, she mentioned "incomplete notice period served, and there will be a deduction for the same." Initially, when I joined, the company was in the process of merging, so the notice period was only for 15 days in my offer letter. Later on, in December, they informed me that it's for 2 months. I want to know whether an incomplete notice period in the relieving letter would affect my career. I am currently searching for a new job. Please help.

It's really strange that they mention an incomplete notice period in the relieving letter. It should not be included in the relieving letter. They have the right to deduct the amount for not serving the notice period. I advise you to speak with your HR and request another letter.

Thanks for your suggestion. However, I already requested my HR to provide me with a proper relieving letter, but she informed me that it's company policy. She is not issuing me another relieving letter.

Impact of Incomplete Notice Period on Career

Incomplete notice period served will not affect your career, but make sure to obtain the other relevant documents, such as the Experience Certificate, your Full and Final settlement, etc. When asked, inform the new company you are joining that you have paid for the incomplete notice period.

Thank you for answering my question. I will receive the Experience Letter and FNF after 45 days. In the meantime, if I receive a call from another company, I plan to inform them that I have already paid for the incomplete notice period. Do you have any other advice regarding the same?

Please ensure that your FNF statement shows the Notice Period Recovery receipt to avoid future complications from your previous company.
