Confused About TDS Deductions? Seeking Advice on Showing Investments to Reduce Tax

Mursheed Alam
I'm Mursheed Alam, and I'm working as a contractor in an MNC. Actually, I'm paying 10% of my total salary every month for T.D.S., but I didn't receive any T.D.S. slip/challan. I joined my company on 1st July 2013, and from July until now, I have been paying 10% of my total salary every month continuously. Can I show my investments to reduce my tax? Please provide me with guidance because I still don't have any type of T.D.S. challan.

Clarification Needed on Contractor Status and TDS

Your query is quite confusing. You mentioned that you are working as a contractor, but then you say you are paying 10% of the salary as TDS. Are you working as a consultant in an MNC or as a contractor? Please clarify.

Good afternoon, I'm not paying directly, but every month, 10% is deducted from my total salary. I joined on 1st July 2013, and till now, it continues to be deducted from my salary. My total salary is 46,200, and 10% of that amounts to 4,620 deducted every month.

I have received my TDS Form 16A, but I am unsure about how to file my return. Can you kindly guide me through the process?

Thank you.

Consultant Role and TDS Implications

You are in the role of a Consultant. A 10% TDS will apply to your fee. It is not a salary but a fee you are receiving. Consult an auditor for IT return filing and refund if any.
